I am excited to kick off this newsletter with an inside look at a few startups in the Northeastern community which are preparing for their product launch, looking to expand their team and working to raise seed stage investment. The Northeastern startup ecosystem is as active as ever and it is exciting to see how Northeastern startups are currently progressing!
Undergrad Featured Ventures
Rooted Living is a mission driven, eco friendly, plant based snack company creating high quality snacks with minimal environmental impact. Rooted Living is founded by a Northeastern student who was dissatisfied by the options and quality of plant based snacks currently on the market. As an athlete who relied on fast fuel, the founder of Rooted Living set out to create a snack that prioritized her personal health and the health of the planet. Currently Rooted Living is working to finalize their website, get trademarked and setup its supply chain for a launch at the beginning of next year.

Cumulus is on a mission to diversify the tech industry by connecting underrepresented minorities in high school with guided mentorship, personalized resources and an inclusive community. Cumulus is founded by a team of diverse students across four universities who are all passionate about technology and product management. Through taking a curated survey, Cumulus’s platform is able to pair students with exploration paths that match their interests. Cumulus is rapidly growing and looking to connect with high schoolers across the country.
Open Positions: Visual Designer to work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce Cumulus's brand image through its visual touchpoints such as user-centered interaction models, wireframes, marketing content, logos, icons, and infographics.

SmartyPill is a startup developing an automatic pill and water dispenser that ensures individuals are taking the right pills at the right time. With the main cause of Americans not taking their medications as prescribed attributed to forgetfulness, SmartyPill acts as a way to streamline the medication management process. The SmartyPill dispenser has customizable alerts and a connected app which allows in-home companions to support individuals living with medication dependent lifestyles. With an expected launch over the next couple months, the SmartyPill dispenser is set to reshape how we take medicine.

Graduate Featured Ventures
Alinea Invest has the goal of making responsible investing fun, easy and social through providing pre-packaged portfolios and ESG analysis to advice individual’s investing decisions. Alinea is founded by two driven women from Columbia University and a graduate student at Northeastern University who are passionate about providing resources to increase women investing. Through incorporating a strong community, fractional share investment and custom portfolios into their app, Alinea is poised to create diversification in the FinTech space. Alinea Invest is looking to expand its team, raise funding and launch its app on IOS.

Alumni Featured Ventures
Evergreens is developing unique technology to simulate and maintain ideal growing conditions indoors. Evergreens is able to deliver fresh produce anywhere by disrupting the supply chain of conventional farming and growing fresh produce locally. Through developing technology which simulates a piece of produce’s ideal growing conditions, Evergreens will be able to grow local ingredients which can be harvested year round and reduce carbon emissions.

Alex Marley is a junior majoring in electrical engineering and economics at Northeastern University. Currently he is an Associate for the Huntington Angels Network, Client Management Lead for Generate, researching neural interfacing devices at Northeastern, an electrical engineer for Paradigm Hyperloop and the founder of the NUOverload newsletter.
